WILMOT STREET ALLOTMENT

A documentary project

Allotments summon a connection with the agrarian past, a tradition dating back to the Anglo-Saxon age. Wilmot Street Allotments continues this tradition, an established haven for wildlife, as well as those who tend their plots.
These green oases are their own communities, in to which my lens, at first intrusive, became habituated. Inspired by the observational work of Lee Friedlander, this project reveals a world within a world, a place where townspeople can grow together, finding in each season their own calm space in the midst of traffic, trains and noise.
